The Illumination Atelier

Our newest 2006 Summer interns at the Illumination Atelier are stellar! A recent graduate from Rhode Island School of Design is Hillary Broder, from Tyler Institute of Art is Rachael Fowler, and from Bowling Green University is Rebecca White. Asha Mathew, from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, completed her internship June 15th and has decided to remain in the area, offering us her continued assistance in graphic design!

Applications continue to pour in, including skilled Master Illuminators trained in the U.K., Turkey and throughout the U.S.  As we grow our program and foundation, we hope to offer residencies to these wonderfully talented artists!

The Illumination Atelier program has expanded to include training in Arts Management as well as gold-leafing, as interns divide time between working on two new Cities of Peace — Sarajevo and Monrovia — and developing intricate designs for Hanukkah Illuminated: A Book of Days.

Ellen Frank to Teach Illumination Workshops

Artistic Director Ellen Frank will be conducting four workshops in Illumination at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons to begin July.  Her hand glazed plate was a much prized auction item for Artists Against Abuse in its summer gala fundraising benefit at Bridgehampton Swim and Tennis.  The Foundation has also been commissioned to produce the Summer Posters for the much acclaimed Pianofest! under the direction of Master Pianist Paul Schenly.

Increasing Our Online Presence

We have just made our debut on ArtInfo.com on its news page, and hope this will increase the visibility of the Foundation and support for our work! If you know of a website, magazine or other media outlet that might be willing to write an article on us, please let them (or us) know!

Ellen Frank Invited to Join Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research

Artistic Director Ellen Frank has been invited to be a Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research (TFF) Associate, the first artist to be connected with TFF.  In the words of Jan Oberg, recipient of the Small Peace Prize in Sweden, “I like your whole approach and your paintings.  I sincerely hope I will one day have the great experience and joy to meet in person with you.”

TFF's mission is peace: learning to handle conflicts with ever less violence against other human beings, other cultures and Nature.

"We are a networking organization with associates all over the globe. We believe that alternatives to the main trends of our time are desirable and possible - indeed necessary for humankind to survive and live with dignity. TFF is critical and constructive.

The Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research expresses a vision and is an experiment in applied peace research and global networking.

TFF is an independent, small and innovative force for peace."
